Neuroscience
Overview
An interdisciplinary, research-based degree, the Queens College Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience is a collaboration between the Biology and Psychology departments, providing students with a unique blend of theoretical and hands-on experience.
The Neuroscience degree is specially designed for talented students looking to engage in compelling research. Students interested in pursuing postgraduate programs will engage in competitive coursework and practical experience to prepare them for a variety of options. The Neuroscience program requires students to conduct research for a minimum of one year, write an honors thesis and present the research in a public forum. To graduate, students must maintain a 3.0 GPA.
Compelling Interdisciplinary Coursework
Students take core and elective classes across the Psychology, Biology and Chemistry departments. Some of the upper division courses include:

Research Laboratory Work
Choose from a wide range of research laboratories across the Queens College campus, from Biology and Psychology to Chemistry and Biochemistry. Research counts for course credit as long as it is conducted with an approved mentor through an independent study or the Honors in Mathematics & Natural Science program. One of the most exciting parts of the research experience is sharing your findings at local and national conferences. Students and mentors often share their work together at these events.
Postgraduate Support
Students enrolled in the Neuroscience degree program can find ample support for their postgraduate aspirations. Queens College’s Health Professions Advisory Services helps students planning to apply to health profession schools: dentistry, medicine, optometry, pharmacy, podiatry and veterinary medicine. Students get academic and off-campus opportunities to strengthen their applications. Queens College’s accelerated MA option allows undergraduate students to take graduate courses as electives during their senior year. This reduces the time needed to complete a master’s program at the college. Postgraduate study options include:
